LOBBY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN!
Hello Teamster Brothers and Sisters and Friends,
Local 38 Teamsters have had many opportunities in the past to travel to Olympia and really feel like they are making a difference for workers in Washington State. On Monday, January 14th, the long Legislative Session begins for 2019 and you have many opportunities to join us in Olympia. Your Teamsters Local #38 are heading down to Olympia to testify on illegalizing non-compete agreements and promote secure scheduling for retail and restaurant workers this session. On Sunday, Feb 24th we'll arrange for you to stay with some of your Teamster Brothers, Sisters, and Friends at the Red Lion Hotel in Olympia, train at the Washington State Labor Council, and our lobby at our State's Capitol, talking with your Senators and State Representatives about things that matter to you and could make a difference in your job. If you are interested in the political process or you just want to learn about how legislation is passed that affects working class people, please reach out to our Political Coordinator for Local #38 Teamsters, Debbie Gath, to save your spot on one of these trips. You are assured to have fun!!
Washington State Legislative League's Union Staff and Members Lobby Day will happen on Monday, February 25th. We'll drive down together Sunday afternoon, have dinner and a training course on what it's like to meet with your District's Legislators. Then on Monday morning, we will hit the Hill, in groups.
Nobody has to be alone or be nervous, we'll do this together! The Teamsters Joint Council will pay for your meals and lodging. You just have to worry about getting the time off work.
Local #38 in Snohomish County has members in the 10th, 21st, 38th, 39th and 44th Districts. You don't even have to know your District or your Legislators, we've got you covered! If you're not able to join us for either of these dates, but would like to stay informed and be involved in future political activities, please let me know!
Just give Debbie Gath a call as soon as possible at 425-252-3800 ext 226 or send me an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
